Texting While Driving Bill Passed by Georgia Senate

The last thing you should have to worry about on the road is another driver’s negligence resulting from texting. There is no way to drive safely while corresponding with one or more people via text, and we have seen far too many people suffer from car accidents, truck accidents and personal injuries because of the new habit.

The Georgia Senate recently passed a bill, however, that lets residents know how dangerous this behavior is. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, if the House also passes the bill, texting while driving will become illegal and violators will be punished with a $150 fine. The bill’s sponsor, Sen. Jack Murphy (R-Cumming), told the AJC it will incur even more severe penalties on teenagers who are charged with breaking the texting law. The legislation would prevent teens from attaining a Class C license after paying the fine for the second time.

If this legislation is passed, our attorneys will be able to provide you with an even stronger defense when you are involved in an accident that could have easily been prevented had the other driver not been texting. The foundation of a proper defense is the laws that govern our state and our country and the more specific they are, the better we will be able to represent you in every personal injury circumstance.

We are petitioning our representatives and doing everything we can to make sure the George House of Representatives passes this life-saving legislation. We realize the positive impact this bill will have on every resident in the state and look forward to being able to better represent you once it is passed.
